About the Program
Campers will take part in a robust program of master classes, opera history seminars, diction, theory, anatomy and staging/blocking sessions.
Repertoire runs the gamut from great classics (such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas) to lighthearted works like Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore and the modern silliness of Peter Schickele’s The Stoned Guest.
Repertory assignments are based on ability levels and voice ranges. Students will work in small groups and receive individual vocal coaching for their pieces. The final week is dedicated to dress rehearsals and staging.
The camp ends with a final performance, allowing students to showcase their prepared scenes from operas and operettas for friends and family.
When: August 3–14, 2020
Where: 1336 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123
What time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
