Chorale

Before the voice changes, boys sing Soprano and Alto parts. To complement these high voices, the Men's Chorale was formed in the 1970's. The Chorale provides much-needed Tenor and Bass parts. This allows for a significantly greater variety of repertoire to sing. Men regardless of age rehearse and perform with the Choir each week throughout the season.

Philadelphia Boys Choir

Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale develops a varied repertoire every year. This repertoire is the basis for all performances of the Choir in a season, including the annual tour. It is a combination of classical, traditional, popular, and patriotic songs, focusing on American composers.

The Choir sings at many private and community functions throughout the year. The season typically includes:

The Nutcracker with the Pennsylvania Ballet,

Concerts with the Philly Pops,

Annual Holiday Concert,

Cadet Programs

Many of the boys in Philadelphia Boys Choir begin as members of the Cadet program. The boys learn the essentials of choral musicianship. This includes correct breathing, reading music, sight singing, and music theory. Each Cadet program lasts one year.

Beginning and Advanced Cadets perform at PBCC annual Holiday and Spring concerts. Based upon individual skill, Advanced Cadets can also perform in the Nutcracker with the Pennsylvania Ballet.

Music opens a window to the beauty of the world.
At Philadelphia Girls Choir, we see music as the central piece in a cultural jigsaw puzzle. Through music, we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, our community and our world.

Philadelphia Girls Choir is an after-school music education program for girls 7 and older. Girls audition and are placed in one of the training programs based on proficiency and age. After the training programs, selected singers are asked to audition for the performing choir. All programs include public performances, some programs include summer camps abroad.
